We had the pleasure of traveling to San Diego to DJ and provide cake lighting for an Afghan & American wedding. The order of events was unique as the wedding ceremony took place immediately after the grand entrance in the reception. It was a great arrangement because each event flowed so naturally into the other.

The two cultures were brought together with our Afghan DJ, DJO. The reception was immaculately decorated with majestic floral centerpieces, candles, white dance floor and lavender uplighting. We supplemented the decor lighting with cake pinspot lighting:

We particularly admired the floral arrangements and diamond-shaped dance floor. The hotel provided the uplighting was a little dim due to the brightness of the lights and quantity of lights used. If you’re thinking about a venue like this, we suggest more lights (and higher quality). It’ll give you greater control over the ambience and you’ll still be able to make it dimmer when you want it—for the same price as a hotel light rental, too!

The food was catered by Kabul West Catering, based in San Diego with delicious upscale Afghan food.

As with all of our Afghan weddings, we ended the night with their traditional attan dance.

A beautiful venue, beautiful couple and another beautiful union. Always a pleasure from where we sit.
